Exercising as per your schedule and body is something which can help you achieve this. Apart from the fitness, exercise has both short-term as well as long-term benefits.

When we exercise, our body releases certain neurotransmitters i.e. endorphins which are known to elevate mood and reduce the stress levels. This in turn increases our energy levels and improves our sleep quality. Talking about long-term benefits, exercise has a positive effect on our cardiovascular health and mental health. It increases our muscle strength, flexibility as well as our body’s immunity to fight against various diseases. Most importantly, exercise helps in weight management which boosts our self-esteem.

Regular physical activity helps in maintaining overall health and well-being. Fitness and well-being are closely connected. Being fit makes you feel more happy, energetic, enhances your stamina and boosts your confidence. When you feel fit and confident, your social interaction increases which raises your self-esteem and imparts you a feel-good factor thus improving your well-being.

There are various forms of exercise with different benefits like yoga, running, strength training etc. Incorporating any type of exercise in your daily regime can significantly reduce our stress levels leading to a more focussed and calmer mental well-being. Importantly, exercising enhances the overall longevity of life by reducing the risk of hypertension, diabetes, arthritis and other chronic conditions.

Lastly, to avail these benefits one needs to create a sustainable exercise routine. Our goals should be realistic for long-term adherence which can be achieved by assessing our fitness level, identifying our objectives and setting smaller milestones initially. Do remember even 10-15 minutes of your daily exercise matters!!
